But what does it mean when tiles are not calibrated?
Non-calibrated wall tiles - various benefits for privately and commercially used premises
When it comes to calibrating tiles, it means bringing the parts to a precise level. Basically, there is a defined measure for almost all tiles, whereby it has to be considered that the raw material itself is a natural substance. Consequently, it can be assumed that one or the other site may be subject to certain dimensional deviations. However, if the customer decides beforehand specifically for the purchase of calibrated tiles, dimensional deviations are of course excluded.
Wall Tiles - Not Calibrated: Advantages and Disadvantages
In the course of the calibration process, the tiles are not cut to an exact dimension until after firing, so that they not only have completely straight edges, but also dimensional deviations are almost completely excluded.
Wall tiles that are not calibrated, therefore, sometimes have small or - depending on the provider or qualitative quality - larger deviations, which in the end has quite a positive effect on the acquisition costs. Of course, when installing wall tiles that are not calibrated, additional instinct is required to make sure that the best fit is guaranteed. It should also be borne in mind, however, that laying wall tiles, unless calibrated, may be a little more cumbersome and more protracted. Only seasoned experts should lay wall tiles that are not calibrated, if absolute perfection is desired from the beginning.
If wall tiles are not calibrated, a price saving is not always guaranteed ...
If wall tiles are not calibrated, they are, according to experience, a bit cheaper to buy, but on the other hand the specialist usually needs a bit more time when laying the tiles. Of course, this additional effort is at the expense of the client, so that it makes sense in any case with regard to wall tiles, which are not calibrated, to set the red pencil in advance with the utmost precision. Calibrated tiles, in contrast to wall tiles that are not calibrated, offer a major advantage in terms of overall appearance in each room. The always exact edge length is always the same, so that the joint pattern is uniform and can be reduced as a result, the effort in attaching and last but not least, the maintenance effort by a multiple.
